Onto the championship game against the Winnipeg Windsor Warlords. The game ended up 4-0 for the Hurricanes and the Gold Medal.

The next action for the Canes is Provincial Championships in Saskatoon July 12-14.

Mini Soccer Festival A Huge Success

The Humboldt and District Soccer Association would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who volunteered, coached, reffed, or brought their kids and family out for the Mini Soccer Festival this past weekend.  We hope everyone enjoyed their day.  If you took any great pictures we would love to have a copy for our online photo album below.  Please e-mail them to us!

Celebrating Success

Out of four Humboldt teams attending the SISCO tournament in Saskatoon, we brought home three Silvers and one Gold!  Way to go! We are especially proud of the Under 12’s, whose team carries a number of very young boys, one of ‘em is only 8 years old!

Congratulations to our local high school athletes for their successes on the field this past season.

  • Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks won both the boys and girls’ league pennants.
  • Muenster girls are the 1A Provincial champions for the second year in a row.
  • Lake Lenore won the consolation final.
  • Middle Lake took the Bronze medal and did a fantastic job hosting the 1A Girls.  That’s three of the four top spots taken by our local girls!
  • Lake Lenore boys took the 1A title.

Humboldt and Muenster boys’ teams also participated at the Provincial finals, with Muenster hosting.

More details are available here (pick the appropriate division from the popup list).

Sponsorship

Humboldt and District soccer would like to once again thank Doepker Industries for supplying the Under 16 boys Team with new jerseys. This is Doepkers second donation of jerseys as they had given one set to the Under 14 boys 2 years ago. The recognition that is received by the Industries is very wide spread as our teams travel to various parts of the province. This was one factor used when determining the sponsorship. The other factor was the number of kids whose parents,or families have ties to Doepker Industries.

There are many communities represented by these teams, Annaheim, Lake Lenore, Muenster, St.Gregor, Watson, Middle Lake, Bruno, Humboldt and others, and Doepker Industries recognizes the need for this type of sponsorship.

If you or your organization are interested in sponsorship of any kind please contact Miles Jorgenson, President HDSA.

About the Humboldt and District Soccer Association

Welcome to the Humboldt and District Soccer Association!  Our club supports year round soccer activities for fun and competition.  The outdoor season, running through May and June every year has enjoyed tremendous growth as more and more kids and adults have found it a great activity.  The focus is on FUN.  Our house league is co-ed, score is not recorded, and every game is a “friendly”.  We train our volunteer coaches to ensure that players learn as they play.  Our referees are fully certified by the Canadian Soccer Association, which helps ensure consistency in the understanding of the “laws of the game”.  We do our utmost to stay true to the international FIFA rules, so visiting players can fit right in.

Our indoor league runs from mid October through early March at St. Peter’s College gym.  This program has proven to be very popular as well, since many players are too busy in the spring and summer.

Both indoor and outdoor seasons offer the opportunity for the more advanced players to travel to tournaments for serious competition.  About half our league players will participate.  The Hurricanes have enjoyed a proud history of championships right up to the Provincial titles in Division 2 (now renamed Division 3 by the SSA).

Children as young as 3 can join our fun leagues.  Adults as old as, well, as old as you want can play.  In fact the adults have recently seen a tremendous resurgence thanks in large measure to Humboldt’s strong economy that has brought us players from around the world.

Anyone who is new to town or just new to soccer can find out more by contacting any member of our club, or the City of Humboldt Leisure Services Department will help direct you.

Enjoy!
Miles E. Jorgenson, President
