Planning & Engineering

The Planning and Engineering Department includes engineering services and planning.  The basic infrastructure is in place to accommodate the City of Humboldt's existing population, future population, residential areas, new developments, commercial and industrial growth.

Building Inspection & Business Licensing
Business Licensing
The Building Inspection & Licensing Department is responsible for the licensing of all non-resident businesses entering the City, all home based businesses in the City and licensing of direct sellers.

Building Inspection
The Building Inspection & Licensing Department is also responsible for performing building inspections and issuing development permits. Building officials ensure compliance with the National Building Code provisions and local bylaws. Business and home owners in contravention of local bylaws and standards will be served orders to ensure the community maintains a safe and healthy environment.

BizPaL On-line Service
BizPaL is an online service that simplifies the business permit and licence process for entrepreneurs, businesses, governments, and third-party business service providers. Users simply answer a series of questions on their type of business and BizPaL will automatically generate a list of permits and licences from all levels of government (federal, provincial, territorial and municipal). BizPaL provides you with basic information on each and links to government sites where users can learn more and in some cases apply online.

Sask 1st Call
Sask 1st Call is a “Call Before You Dig” underground facility screening and notification service for excavators who are planning to dig or excavate.
